Weekend Volunteering Facebook Page

weekend-volunteer-2

*update – I corrected the link to the Facebook Page.

As of today, this blog has featured 26 organizations’ flexible, weekend, and or online opportunities!

In order to reach out to more volunteers, I started a Facebook Page and will re-post the blog postings on there. Please like the Facebook Page and share the posts on Facebook if you can. There is also a Facebook plugin towards top right hand side of this blog, on top of blog stats.

I look forward to any suggestions and or feedback on how to reach out to more potential volunteers! Here’s to more volunteer opportunities!

Thank you for everyone’s support!

Medical Bridges volunteering opportunity

Medical Bridges is a non profit organization that helps procure and distribute medical supplies and equipment to underserved communities. Below is a volunteer opportunity:

Become a Sort Room Volunteer

The duties primarily consist of sorting donated medical supplies in preparation for shipment to those in need in developing countries.

Supplies are sorted by type (form, fit, function) and quantity to ensure they meet requisite expiration dates. Medical professionals on staff assist in identifying products and answering questions.

Volunteer days for the sort room are below. PLEASE NOTE the greatest volunteer need is during the week, Tuesdays through Thursdays.

  • Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays
    • Morning Session 1:  9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
    • Afternoon Session 2:  1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
  • Saturdays:
    • Morning Session 1:  9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Saturdays tend to fill up fast – often weeks or months in advance – and appointments are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Welcome New and Potential Volunteers!

I am starting this blog to search and find out about organizations that need volunteers that can give flexible hours whether it be from online, work from home, on the weekend, or just require flexible dates and times. There are many people who would like to volunteer, but may not find suitable organizations to volunteer for due to time requirements. Hope this blog will help potential volunteers find an organization they can support and become a great volunteer.
